Let me take a moment to share with you what I believe in. First and foremost, I believe in LOVE. I believe love is experienced on a spectrum of infinite possibilities of how love can be shared. Love is misunderstood, riddled with confusion and is beyond words. Experiencing love moves us to create art, music, poetry, and scripture. Love doesn’t exist in the realm of rationality but in feeling and emotion. Everyone needs love. We spend our lives searching for love. Jesus said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” What we’re all looking for can only be found within ourselves. Humanity went awry when the murder of Christ was justified as an act of love. Its not. That’s not love. Our systems are failing and our institutions are corrupt because love is not the foundation on which they stand. The world men have created is founded on fear and violence, it’ll never last. I believe love is the point of our lives. Despite all the pain, the suffering, the struggles and all that comes with being human…love makes it all worthwhile. We exist to love. Our community is fighting for love. What makes our community so unique and so special is that despite all the ways we’ve been told we aren’t worthy of love, our existence proves otherwise because when we come together all we are is love. We found family in each other and we are beginning to understand the value of one another. We’re learning to love ourselves so that we can share that love with those around us. Our love can light up the world. I believe the people who haven’t found love are threatened by the fact that the people they believe are unworthy of love, in fact, have an abundance of love. Love is on our side and Love is the only God I have ever known. I believe in Love. I believe in Me. I believe in You. I believe in We. I believe we still have a long road ahead of us and one hell of a battle is on its way but if we stand together, we will win our freedom to love.
